Getting here 

Chalet Gliere is right in the heart of the Grand Massif area – one of the largest with 265km of runs and one of the few areas ideal for all levels of skier & snowboarder. It’s where French families come to learn & ski together.  

Getting here is really easy whether by plane, train or automobile. 

Geneva airport is an hour away and just about every airline flies in there – EasyJet, BA, Jet2, Ryanair and many others. Geneva has plenty of car hire options, which also gives you a bit of freedom to explore Chamonix, or the Porte du Soleil area (Morzine, Les Get & Avoriaz). Also the car hire companies will be obliged to ensure you have the right winter tyres on the car. Alternatively we can arrange a minibus transfer if required but a quick Google search will give you plenty of options. 

If you prefer to drive, the chalet is 8 hours from Calais Eurotunnel via France’s rather superb motorways, which take you into Cluses. You can also take the train into Geneva, Lyon, Annemasse or Cluses.  

Perfectly situated 

The chalet is situated between Samoens and Morillon, very close to 3 main lifts; Vercland, Morillon and the Samoens Grand Massif Express. They are each fast & high capacity gondolas with the Vercland lift being installed in 2020. With lifts up to 2,500m and 1100 snow-cannons covering 50% of slopes it’s as snow-sure as anywhere, with ski season running mid-December through mid-April.  

Each local lift delivers a slightly different combination of beginner, intermediate and advanced slopes, as well as delivering you into the heart of the Grand Massif area. You can find a breakdown of the ski area, lifts and runs here. 

There are lots of other winter activities if your party likes a little variety – sledging/toboggan runs, husky sled rides, ice skating, fat-biking, paragliding and more. Restaurants, cafés and refuges are open throughout the Grand Massif area, so there’s always somewhere to grab a coffee and take in the views. 

There are plenty of ski hire options, though renting out of Morillon allows you to leave your kit there overnight right next to the lift. There’s more about it here.
