Super fast broadband is in!

We’ve finished summer with a few changes to the chalet, but this one is a real winner.

We’ve replaced the old, slow ISDN broadband with fancy new Starlink satellite broadband. It’s very fast indeed – between 180Mb/s and 220Mb/s depending on where the satellites are and the local load.

The “dish” is a little rectangle over the top of the satellite dish. It faces roughly 15 degrees off north and on a clear night you can stand outside and see the train of Starlink satellites tracking across the sky.

You should get zero lag on Playstation games and if you really must do that work meeting, it’ll handle multiple calls and videos easily – the mesh network extends to the whole chalet, including the balcony.

We still have our DVD library for the player downstairs and the Playstation upstairs, but most guests these days want to use Netflix or Disney Plus. There’s an adaptor for plugging in your device/computer of choice.

(Thanks to Jonny who put it up there. I hate heights.)
